I have been using this laptop stand to create a standing desk at my kitchen counter, and it has served this function perfectly. It allows the bottom of my laptop to be lifted to a max height of approximately 13 inches from the countertop. It is very attractive and has a small footprint, so I leave it out pretty much all the time. I was worried that I might not be able to use the keyboard easily due to the lip that keeps my laptop in place, and due to the pressure that typing places on the adjustable height mechanism, but I have been able to type very comfortably with no problems at all.
